El tiroides ectópico sublingual es una alteración congénita poco frecuente, caracterizada por la localización anatómica de tejido tiroideo en la base de la lengua El diagnóstico inicial se suele llevar a cabo mediante Resonancia Magnética o Ecografía. La gammagrafía de tiroides es la prueba más sensible y específica para confirmar presencia de tejido tiroideo funcionante en una lesión sugestiva de tiroides ectópico. La realización de un estudio tomográfico SPECT/CT, permite mejorar la localización anatómica del radiotrazador en esta zona, siendo de gran utilidad para establecer el diagnóstico diferencial en este tipo de lesiones.
Abstract
SUBLINGUAL ECTOPIC THYROID
Ectopic sublingual thyroid is a rare congenital disorder characterized by the anatomical location of thyroid tissue at the base of the tongue. The initial diagnosis is usually carried out by Magnetic Resonance or Ultrasound. Thyroid scintigraphy is the most sensitive and specific test to confirm the presence of functioning thyroid tissue in a subjected ectopic thyroid lesion. The performance of SPECT/CT tomographic studies allows to improve the anatomical location of the radiotracer in this area, being very useful to establish the differential diagnosis in this type of lesions.
